Gulf Beach

Thank you for visiting the Gulf Beach Condominium website.  Here is the progress on the rebuild.

On September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian slammed into Sanibel Island.  Gulf Beach Condominium was at the center of the storm, experiencing a 13 to 15 foot storm surge.  Ian lifted the building off its supports and moved it.  Since the cost to repair the building exceeded 50% of its value, we were not allowed to fix it. We must tear it down and rebuild it from the ground up.

Here is a picture of the condo as it appeared the week of July 13.

The folks from our flood insurance company arrive for their 5th and last inspection on July 17 (yes, we are still fighting insurance after 46 months).  During the week of July 26, 2026, the building will be demolished.  In about 16 to 18 months, Gulf Beach will be the newest condominium on Sanibel Island; newer and better!
